The Engel Terrace is one of London’s most beautiful restaurants and bars for al fresco dining.
Take your pick from the Upper Terrace surrounded by the Grade I Listed columns of the Royal Exchange, or the sun trap of the Lower Terrace, surrounded by some of The City of London’s most spectacular architecture.
The Lower Terrace is now closed and will reopen in Spring 2026, but our heated Upper Terrace is now open for private events.

Bringing a taste of Engel onto the iconic steps of The Royal Exchange every spring and summer, the terrace promises an authentic German experience with a menu of hot dogs, salads and small plates, draught beer by the pint or stein, cocktails and flowing coupes of Champagne. White, red and rosé wines are also available by the glass or bottle, alongside a selection of soft and hot drinks.
We don’t take reservations on the terrace for tables of fewer than nine guests, but for larger parties you can contact our events team on [email protected]
Every Saturday from 12 noon to 4:00 pm, enjoy Chef Samantha Williams and Chef Lorena Tommassi’s seriously delicious brunch dishes paired with world-class R&B, soul, jazz, and burlesque performances.
We kicked things off on Saturday, 18th October, with the powerhouse vocals of Selina Albright, and the series continues with equally standout performances from Jermain Jackman, Natalie Williams, and Burlesque Star, Miss Jolie Papillon.
Brunch menus are priced at £45 for two courses and £50 for three courses with unlimited Prosecco, Bellinis or Spritzes for a fixed price of £30 (for 90 minutes). And for Champagne lovers we will continue to offer our fabulous Ruinarts at half their normal prices.
